When I restart windows xp, I can only access Firefox and IE8 for a short time before it crashes. Why?

I reinstalled bth Firefox and IE8 and yet if I close them, I have to reboot.|||Your system requires registry cleaning, defragmentation. Also virus infection might be the reason of crash. I suggest you AVAST free antivirus and Reginout system cleaner.
